When you think of the hottest clothing brands, a few fashion favorites come to mind: ASOS, Zara, Nike to name a few. But it’s hard to tell which brand holds the crown in terms of popularity — and the #1 spot shifts from year-to-year. In a quest to find the top-selling brand, Business of Fashion in collaboration with Lyst compiled sales data from each business quarter of the calendar year. And the brand that topped the list for the second quarter of 2017 will surprise you.
The “hottest fashion brand on the planet” right now is none other than Gucci.According to the report, Gucci sales are up 39.3% compared to this time last year, which means they’re bringing in $1.7 billion in sales. What’s more? BoF also reported there were no less than four Gucci products that landed in the 10 best-selling products globally. And it’s not just our moms and aunts who are cashing in on Gucci gear — the report says millennials and Gen Z consumers make up 50 percent of the brand’s customer base, which BoF says is due in part to their “logomania revival” and “focus on digital innovation.” Other brands topping the list include Yeezy, Prada, Nike, and more.
With Gucci’s ubiquitous logo shirts, fur-lined loafers, floral-printed sneakers, and embroidered denim, we can’t say that we’re surprised by this news. Now that Gucci’s reign is official, we’re off to start saving up for our own loafers, just in time for back-to-school. Who’s with us?
