“Cool-toned shades like magenta and ruby red are incredibly flattering against your pinkish complexion, and they won’t overwhelm you,” says makeup artist Troy Surratt, founder of Surratt Beauty cosmetics.
“Skip warm colors, which can wash you out,” says Molly R. Stern, who often does Reese Witherspoon’s makeup. “Go for a blue-based tangerine or pinky red, both of which help your skin look nice and rosy.”
Try to gravitate toward sunset hues like fiery orange and vibrant coral. “These work with your skin’s natural warmth to highlight your pretty golden tones,” says Surratt.
Don’t shy away from violet lipstick. “Complexions like Jennifer Hudson’s are slightly yellow, so a bold, bluish purple contrasts them beautifully,” explains Surratt. Same goes for a rich poppy red shade.
