Update: Earlier this year, Too Faced dropped a huge collection of Melted Latex Lipsticks with nary a Unicorn Tears shade in sight, an tbh, I was a little disappointed. You could even say I shed some unicorn tears of my own. But I waited faithfully for the day that Too Faced would reward me, and finally, that day is here — Too Faced has just released their Unicorn Tears Melted Latex Lipstick, and honestly, it looks more gorgeous than I even dreamed of. In the brand’s Instagram announcing the release on September 29, they’ve asked fans not to freak out, but given how gorgeous it looks on the model, I don’t know if I can make any promises. In the event that it (sadly) sells out, you can also snag items from Too Faced’s entire fall unicorn collection, or some of these Too Faced Unicorn Tears dupes we’ve kindly rounded up for you. A couple months ago, the Internet collectively freaked out about the Too Faced Unicorn Tears lipstick. And soon, the holographic lipstick may come in a new form. Jerrod Blandino, Too Faced’s co-founder and king of the #sneakypeek, Instagrammed a video yesterday of a metallic purple mixture being stirred up in a cosmetics lab. The caption read, “This is what happens when you melt a 🦄 #sneakypeek #toofaced #InTheLab.” From a ASMR standpoint, the video is incredibly soothing to watch. TBH I scrolled past it before I went to sleep last night, and I had a very vivid dream about creating my very own holographic lipstick. Sadly, my alarm went off before I could try it out on my lips. But from a sneak peek angle, the reference to a unicorn alone got everyone thinking about what else Blandino could possibly have up his industrious sleeves for us in the year ahead. (Let’s not forget the Natural Love and Peanut Butter Honeypalettes.)
In the comments, Too Faced fans voiced their speculations. Everyone seems to agree that the teaser is Unicorn Tears related. However the future Too Faced Unicorn Tears form theories fall into two different camps. Some think the holographic amethyst concoction is the latest addition to the Melted Metals collection. Too Faced already sells metallic liquid lipstick that applied like a lip paint (kind of like the new Lancôme Le Metallique Lipstick).
Others believe the mystery unicorn-inspired mixture will become another newMelted Matte. I mean, Blandino did also post a picture of six new shades coming out in March. Could Too Faced’s first-ever metallic matte liquid lipstick be the seventh? A matte bright orchid called Unicorn already exists, but the addition of Tears would have to bring lip product to a new level. My favorite comment, however, came from @ kyndallwhite, “idk what this even is yet but it’s like porn and I need it.” Same. So incredibly same.
