A 42-year-old father and his 20-year-old daughter who he gave up for adoption at birth and he first met when she was 18, had a baby together.
At birth, Katie Rose Pladl, 20, was given up for adoption. She spent years of searching for her biological parents and reconnected with them via social media. After the reunion, she moved in her mom and dad and their two other children in Virgina.
The father, Steven Walter Pladl, 42, and his biological daughter Katie Rose have been arrested and charged with incest with adult, adultery, contributing to delinquency. The father and daughter are being held in the Wake County Detention Center in North Carolina where they now reside.
Although incest is a crime, dozens of cases like Pladl’s and Katie Rose have been reported nationwide. Where estranged blood relatives who meet as adults, fall in love. The attraction is called “genetic sexual attraction,” it is defined by the Oxford Dictionary of Psychology as, “erotic feelings between close relatives, often between siblings or between parents and children, who are separated early in life and reunited in adolescence or adulthood.”
According to warrants obtained by KRON4, Pladl’s estranged wife turned him in after he impregnated their daughter, Katie Rose.
Documents show that Katie Rose moved in with the couple and their two other children in August 2016. However, shortly after, Pladl and his wife legally separated in November 2016.
According to the warrants, Pladl asked the two younger children to refer to Katie Rose as their step-mom. The wife found out that Katie Rose was pregnant by her dad after reading a journal belonging to one of the other two younger children.
After learning about the pregnancy, the wife contacted her estranged husband and he allegedly admitted the baby was his and said they planned to get married.
The baby was born in September 2017. The warrants for their arrest were issued in November 2017. The couple was arrested in January, and only Pladl bonded out of jail, but Katie Rose remains behind bars.
