While Donald Trump turns up the heat on companies that have moved their manufacturing outside the country, his own daughter’s scarf collection is under fire for being recalled over a “burn risk.”
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 20,000 of Ivanka Trump-branded scarves because they failed to meet fire safety standards required for clothing textiles, the recall notice states.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled scarves and return them to the place where purchased for a full refund,” the notice states. “Consumers who purchased the scarves online will be contacted directly by online retailers with return instructions.”
The styles are Beach Wave, which comes in blue and yellow, and Brushstroke Oblong, which comes in blue, red and green. Both styles are 100% rayon and include a black label with “IVANKA TRUMP” embroidered in silver. They sell for $12 to $68.
Among the retailers selling the scarves are Lord & Taylor, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and the major online retailer Amazon.
Ivanka’s father has criticized companies that outsource their manufacturing and has threatened to impose high tariffs on Chinese imports if elected, although the Republican front-runner admits some of his own products were produced outside of the country.
